There is so much going on in my life at the moment, that I really am finding it difficult to post. I do have some photos but unfortunately, don't have the time to be taking them daily at this very minute, or getting on and posting. I will be back and I hope it is real soon. I love the concept of this challenge and I am sad that already now I have missed so many days.

We are having the next four days away - time to put the work worries behind me and just get in and make the most of the time I have with my beautiful family.

Will be back as soon as I can.

Blogger has not been kind to me the last couple of days. I have tried to upload a couple of times and even leave messages on other people's blogs and there was no way it was going to let me do it.
Anyway yesterday, I went on a photoshoot excursion with my friend Katrina. She belongs to the local Camera Club, and they had a late afternoon photo shoot. We ended up out at Q Mag at Parkhust. Lots of fun and I did manage to get a few good shots. (Well shots that I like anyway)

These were just a few of my favourite photos for the Photo shoot yesterday. It was a late evening night photoshoot - and although we did not have a very good sunset yesterday, I was still pretty happy with a lot of my photos. Love some of the interstesting clouds and skylines.
Who ever throught that taking photos of magnesium plants would turn out so well. Pretty boring in the daytime.

20th March, 2009.Much more difficult taking photos of these little fish in our aquarium. They are breeding profusely at the moment and we have lost of little baby fish being born. Steve loves to sit and watch them swim around most evenings, He finds it terribly relaxing.

Well I can't say that I took any photos today. Thursday is always a busy day here as we have TAFE and have to be gone by 4pm. It doesn't leave much time when quite often I don't get home from work before 4.30pm. Thought I would share some of the fun stuff I have been doing with Photoshop. We are working on compositions at TAFE at the moment, blending different photos in etc. We were given these three photos.

Was also inspired by Mel and had a little play around with grouping photos. Think I need a lot more practice though.

I'm a few days behind uploading, mainly because we had an extremely busy weekend, and then both Steve and I got hit with the vomiting bug. It has knocked us out cold for the past couple of days. Anyway here is the catch up.

Still not feeling 100% today, although I must admit, I feel 100% on what I did yesterday. Still haven't had a chance to get outside and take too many photos. This is just some deocorations that sit on the coffee table.

Have been really sick today, so just took a photo of my fingernail. Actually this was taken to show my daughter Sarah, just how long it has grown. I have very soft fingernails, so this is extra long for me because they are usually broken long before they get to this length.

Had a special farewell luncheon today after church for our good friends, Ricardo and Janelle Santa who are moving to Darwin. We are so sad they they are moving and will really miss them. Also took this photo of Chloe.

Haven't had a chance to take a photo today as it was raining after work and I only had an hour until I had to go to TAFE. I'm really enjoying the course - learning heaps and I definately want to book into the advanced course because in all honestly, I reckon the more I use it, hopefully the more it will stick in my head. Anyway I am still playing around with editing some of my photos just brightening and contrasting them.

More fun in the garden. I love these red flowers, they only ever flower once a year during the month of Febrary. Every time one flowers I just have to take a photo of it.

Well haven't been out taking photos today, but have had some fun with photos I took on the weekend. These photos all needed to be brightened, so here is the original, and then the end result of Bright and Contrast in Photoshop. These are not necessarily good photos, in fact the last two original shown were not even my photo (the kiss was taken by my friend) but it is interesting to see that even bad photos can be made better.

Snapped at the airport this afternoon just before we caught our flight. Two very happy people ready to have a weekend away together. Just used my point and shoot, and held it out in front of us.

We have had some great sunsets and cloud filled skies lately. Love how the sun is shining through the clouds and lining them in silver.

It's been a hectic week - haven't had much chance to get on and upload photos this week. Have spent too much time on my other computer getting it set up with email and all other things I want on it before the cut off from USQ. Once they disconnect me from their VPN I need to sort out all the problems myself. Think it is all working fine now.

After all the tradegy in Australia in recent weeks with the bush fires in Victoria and the floods in North Queensland and the Northern Territories, it really has been an amazing experience to see people in this wonderful country get behind each other to sujpport one another.

Pretty desperate for photos today. This is blooming just outside my front door. Had to set the camera on manual to get this photo. If I use the Auto setting, the flower comes out almost blue. This is pretty true to colour. Am going to the beach this weekend, so hopefully I might get to take a few beach shots.

Found these blooming in my garden this afternoon - what beautiful flora we have in this country.
Seems to be that lots of my photos lately revolve around plants. I must admit though, that I never realized that our gardent contains such beauty and colour. I think that perhaps I have taken it too much for granted over the last few years.

I've had a busy couple of days - I did manage to take photos but haven't had a chance to get on and upload. My sister has been visiting, and we have been busy Resume writing. After homeschooling all her children through their entire school live, she has now decided that she would like to get a job.
Driving home from work this afternoon, I was just in awe of the colour from these gorgeous berries on my neighbours palm tree. Just had to run inside and grab my camera and take these couple of shots.

22nd February, 2009.Sunday afternoon we took a walk along the walking tracks near the Yeppeen Lagoon. It is so beautiful at the momment. So lush and green. The Lagoon has had water in it for 12 months now. For years before that, the area had been so dry. The birdlife along here is amazing.

We have fruit trees full of fruit at the moment - not ripe yet but hopefully will be sweet and juicy by the winter months. The top picture is oranges on our orange tree and then the second photo is taken of the mandarin's on the mandarin tree. And to finish off the walk around our garden, I found this rose, just past the prime of its bloom.
Shockingly hot day here today - way too hot to spend too much time out of the air conditioning.

I am really enjoying my TAFE course, learning heaps, and I am amazed at how you can transform pretty bad photos into half decent ones. Yesterday was Sarah and Colin's wedding anniversary so I was looking at some of the photos from the Sarah and Colin's wedding and I decided to have a play around with some of them - not great photos but photos that were way too dark, so I have managed to lighten them up a bit. I can't beleive how easy it is these days to make really bad photos look OK.

Just a little bit of debris laying in the garden. Interestingly enough this pretty much is the same photo. On the top photo I focused on the dead branch, and the second photo I focused on the leaf. Totally different look.
Second night at TAFE tonight - digital manipulation of photos and I am loving it. Looking forward to some more photo taking this week and manipulating them.

Another little walk around my garden this afternoon and this is what I found. This is quite a plain little tree in the garden outside my kitchen door, but upon close inspection it really has quite pretty flowers and makes a pretty picture.

Today I walked about my yard and saw these two lone pegs sitting on my closeline - kind of like a husband and wife clinging together. Not great photography subject matter, I know, but they kind of looked cute sitting on the line together and I kind of like the way this photo turned out.

Just a few more shots taken around my yard I am enjoying looking for beauty in places I don't often see it - I walk past a lot of these plants each day and yet don't often see the beauty - I have loved capturing it like this and I think it will be interesting to go back in a years time and I think I will be quite astounded at the beauty that is here and I haven't even realized.

Just haven't had a chance to post the last couple of days. Started my Photoshop course last night and just been busy running everyone ever which way. It has alsobeen pretty wet here the last few days, so it has not been good weather to be out and about wth my camera. I have used my little camera to take these next couple of shots .
You can see I was pretty desperate to take some photos. Just a close up of my eye- image how good this might come up if I was using my good camera.

I just had to race inside and get my camera this afternoon. The flower only blooms once a year and as I got out of the car with the groceries I noticed that it was flowering. You will probably see a few more photos of it over the next week or so. It really is magnificent in real life. No real exciting photo to share today - just one taken this evening of my friend Ann and I sewing.This was taken with my little handbag camera so is not particularly a food photo.

31st January 2009This shot is no master piece but just of those shots you have to get. These four children were all put to bed in their own beds. This is what we found when we were ready to go to bed. How cute that they all snuggled up together in the one bed. Just couldn't help taking a photo of this cuteness.
My neice was in for the weekend. This is the orignial photo of her playing "Lips" (X-box version of Singstar) I didn't really like this photo because of all the shadows. Had a play with it in Photoshop using the Clone Stamp tool and also used the Honey Retro Action from CoffeeShop Free Actions. This is the result
I can see that this Photoshop is going to become quite addictive this year.

Finally I have to say a huge thank you to Gayle for the great job she has done of upgrading my blog, It looks so much better than it did before, She really is my technological wonder woman. She gets me out of all sorts of pickles. Thanks Gayle.

Well today being Australia Day, I would share this photo. It was taken later tonight. I did however take some other photos today which I will also share.
We had a pretty uneventful day - Steve worked in the yard and I cleaned up inside and then had a play with Photoshop Actions. I took this photo of Steve mowing and then used a CoffeeShop Honey Retro Action, I like the effect and can see that I am going to have a lot of fun playing with some of these in the future.

"NEW ADDITIONS TO THE FAMILY"
A bit harder to get motivated to take photos now that we have arrived home. This photo is of the new additions to our family today - 6 baby chickens, 3 black and 3 white. We lost all our Chooks on Christmas night when some dog ripped open their coup and killed them all. We were pretty upset when we came home and found them all the following morning.

We are having an awesome time on the Gold Coast and have even managed to go out each day and take lots of different sorts of photos. Certainly more time to do this here than at home. Just a couple of the many shots I took today when we had a family outing to Gardiner's Fall in Maleny. Just a gorgeous spot - a waterhole hidden away - refreshing and relaxing.

I will still be photographing every day but will not be able to upload now for the next week as we are off to the Gold Coast tomorrow for a weeks holiday and won't have access to the internet. So be prepared for a big upload in a weeks time.

This year I think I would like to take the challenge of taking a photo a day - over the past year I have watched several people take this challenge and have enjoyed seeing their photos. I also want to improve myh photo skills this year so thought that documenting life by photos might be a good way to both improve my skills. Also my good friend Gayle is taking the challenge too and I thought it might be a bit of fun to do this with her. I know that I might not be able to upload every day, but I will endeavour to take a photo each day and at least upload the weeks photo's each week if I don't manage to do it each day. I also think it will be a great way to look back over the year and remembers some of the things that have shaped or challenged our lives.

So far I have managed to take photos every day this year but will upload tomorrow as they are on my computer and not on this one. I think my problem will be limiting it to one photo a day especially now. Might be a different story when I get home and get busy again.
